Understanding Signals is built around the OPTAscope, which is a PC based Digital Storage Oscilloscope (DSO), which offers all the features of a DSO at a fraction of the cost. No power supply is needed, simply connect to the USB port with the cable provided. OPTAscope software supports features including rise/fall, MIN/MAX, frequency, period, pan, zoom, print, mean true RMS and more. Save acquired signals as BMP picture of entire screen showing cursors and all settings. 1 MS/s sample rate.

In addition to the OPTAscope, Understanding Signals includes a detailed, 144-page text plus a parts kit. The experiments demonstrate the following signals: analog inputs from photoresistors, synchronous and asynchronous serial communication, single and dual sine waves, servo pulse signals over an entire range of motion,decoding infrared remote control signals, op-amps and more.
